Laserbased glass processing

The LZH has already realized a great number of different laser based manufacturing processes for glass. According to the process and the processed material, adapted laser beam sources like solid state lasers (Nd-YAG/Yb- YAG/diode laser) or gas lasers (Excimer- and CO2- lasers) are used.

Advantages of laser based glass processing:
  • defined interaction zone
  • defined intensity profile
  • control of process temperature
  • efficient heating
  • minimal heat generation / contamination of the periphery
  • suited for clean room use
  • suited for automation
