Production and system technology

The basic prerequisites for an economic use of laser beam sources in industry are state-of-the-art manufacturing systems combined with reliable beam sources. Besides excellent laser process know-how, competence in the development of customer-specific solutions for the integration of laser systems is highly important.

Thus, in the field of “production and systems technology” the LZH focuses on developing and providing the appropriate system technology for the integration of manufacturing-relevant laser processes. Besides the customer-specific development and integration of laser systems, software solutions for CAD/CAM programming and scheduling as well as process control are essential, too. In many years of experience, numerous customer-specific solutions and product developments were achieved that have stood the test of practice in industry.

If necessary, numerous laser beam sources for industrial use and testing are available for the development of new processes. These beam sources not only enable to work on joining and separation processes for sheet metal processing but also on questions concerning components with a thickness in the submillimeter range. The lasers used in this field of micro-processing even enable the processing of glass, ceramics and temperature-sensitive materials in medical and semi-conductor technology where the application of conventional manufacturing processes is limited.

Considering this background the focus is on achieving the optimum combination of manufacturing process operations and laser-based processes. Customer-specific system technological developments facilitate the integration in an industrial environment.
